Tiger Woods is has been the pitch man for TLC, one of the largest LASIK centers in the USA. I am not sure how that fits in. Would he have gotten all those women if he wore glasses?

LASIK ruined my life. I had an operation on “Impact Laser” in Mexico City in September 2008, now suffer from dry eye syndrome, eye pain, I can not read a book, use the PC is a martyr and suffer horrible symptoms dramatically.

I lost my college because of this.
I tried to sue the clinic but take refuge with a blade that made me sign before surgery, with eyes closed.
My greatest dream is that there is a cure and reading a book.

Your prescription is not too small for lasik. Once your prescription has stabalised and you are of the right age, you can book in for a full laser consultation and they will go through all the options that are available for your eyes

I had Lasik eye surgery done after wearing glasses for 16 years. It has been perfect for me. I have had no changes. Of course, as I age, I expect changes. I also co-manage refractive surgery and have seen hundreds of successful patients. It doesn’t hurt, generally. There is a bit of pressure, but no real pain if you have LASIK. The PRK version (where no flap is cut) is a little more uncomfortable for the first few days following the procedure. I’ve seen several people who said they were in some pain, but healed just fine. I used to wear both glasses and contact lenses. I had LASIK done and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. I can see clearly, no squinting, no driving with glasses anymore. I can read road signs, see the individual leaves in the trees (they’re not just a blurry mess anymore). It’s also nice to be able to see what time it is when I wake up. The procedure is painless (although a bit uncomfortable) but takes less than 15 minutes. Highly recommended.

You can generally see “something” right after you get up from the bed. You are actually quite comfortable for about 10 minutes after the procedure. Then it starts becoming uncomfortable with a foreign body sensation, grittiness, lots of watering, and an inability to keep the eye open. This starts lessening after 2-3 hours, and this discomfort goes away completely in 24 hours. All this while, your vision also starts improving (there is blur which starts clearly slowly). In about 12 hours, one should have pretty clear vision, and you should be able to begin driving and so on. In 24 hours, you should have as good, or only slightly inferior vision than what you had before LASIK with your spectacles.

For me, hours. I was -8.5 and had lasik 3 months ago. Could see more clearly at distance immediately afterwards although it was very fuzzy, like looking through a lens smeared with vaseline. It was sharper by the following day and I was able to read and watch TV from the evening of the surgery, but wasn’t confident seeing sharply at distance for a couple of days (so didn’t try driving for a few days afterwards).

I’ve ended up slightly under-corrected and still need glasses for driving (-1.25 in my now worse eye) and may end up having an enhancement procedure later this year. But overall it’s been great being able to see!

There is always a chance that you may need a touch up down the road, everyones eyes can change due to different things such as age, hormones, etc. 18 is minimum 21 is better as far as age goes. Some doctors may even do younger than 18. Research different lasik centers in your area and remember not to necessarily go with the cheapest place. Go with technology and doctor reputation.

According to the FDA if you’re in your early 20′s nant or breastfeeding, or you are more likely to have refractive instability (your vision is still likely changing) so you should discuss the possible additional risks with their doctor.
